

GeForce MX230 is connected to the rest of the system using a PCI-Express 3.0 x4 interface. Rather it is intended for use in laptop/notebooks and will use the output of the host mobile device. This device has no display connectivity, as it is not designed to have monitors connected to it. The GPU is operating at a frequency of 1519 MHz, which can be boosted up to 1531 MHz, memory is running at 1502 MHz (6 Gbps effective). NVIDIA has paired 2,048 MB GDDR5 memory with the GeForce MX230, which are connected using a 64-bit memory interface. Nvidia's card improved the most, an average of 4.3 percent per game. It features 256 shading units, 16 texture mapping units, and 16 ROPs. We benchmarked each card in 11 different games, using three different driver builds that were released in a two-year time span. Unlike the fully unlocked GeForce GT 1030 DDR4, which uses the same GPU but has all 384 shaders enabled, NVIDIA has disabled some shading units on the GeForce MX230 to reach the product's target shader count. The GP108 graphics processor is a relatively small chip with a die area of only 74 mm² and 1,800 million transistors. This ensures that all modern games will run on GeForce MX230. Built on the 14 nm process, and based on the GP108 graphics processor, in its N17S-G0-A1 variant, the chip supports DirectX 12.
